The project is located on the southeast side of the urban oasis in Dunhuang, close to the desert area. From the base, one can have a distant view of the Mingsha Mountain to the south. Due to the unique and profound historical and cultural accumulation of Dunhuang, in the overall project design, special emphasis is placed on highlighting the local nature, cultural nature, and experiential nature of the design. With the design vision positioning of "One Dream Enters Dunhuang, One Look Across a Thousand Years", and combined with the design style of high-end luxury hotels, the tone positioning of "Zen, Luxury, Privacy" is summarized. In the overall architectural planning, while adhering to the spatial sequence hierarchy of Chinese architecture, it emphasizes the layers from the ritualistic spiritual totem of public spaces to the private spaces and private vacations, and introduces nature. By leveraging the "big scene" of the Mingsha Mountain in Dunhuang, it rhythmically opens and closes to create distinctive desert boutique resort-style courtyards with unique features, and through the use of corridors, the buildings are organically connected, presenting a harmonious and staggered overall form.In the design, cultural symbols characteristic of Dunhuang, such as the Mogao Caves and the Silk Road, were incorporated. The handmade texture of Dunhuang architecture, which is simple yet elegant, was juxtaposed with the luxurious quality of a boutique hotel, creating a "plain yet luxurious" top-end resort atmosphere that is secluded from the world. The architectural design of the Ganman Wanda Vista was guided by a deep understanding of its target guests' profiles and vacation preferences. Prioritizing the on-site experience, the design seamlessly integrates the macro-level urban context of the city with meticulously crafted micro-level details. This synthesis allows guests to immerse themselves in the grand narrative of a desert Silk Road city, while simultaneously appreciating refined spaces that embody the local culture. The project, therefore, stands as a testament to a truly human-centric design philosophy. In the color control of the hotel, the base color of the northwest landscape is adopted. The building is integrated into the environment while the environment is also incorporated into the building, reflecting the Zen aesthetic of the Dunhuang Mogao Caves and the modern architectural language, forming the unique architectural temperament of Dunhuang. In the design, the regional style of the intersection of Eastern and Western cultures is emphasized, which not only retains the boldness of the northwest Gobi but also conveys the mystery of the countries in the Western Regions. The architectural nightscape lighting design, informed by the hotel's positioning, recreates the historical grandeur of Dunhuang while ensuring a tranquil atmosphere for guests. The overarching concept, "Silk Road Starlight, a Dialogue Across Centuries," utilizes precise lighting to accentuate the building's three-dimensionality and reveal contained, subtle luminescence, recreating a visual feast of starlight.
The landscape lighting employs a three-tiered approach—accent, functional, and path-guidance lighting—to achieve a synergy of function and art. This highlights a serene yet elegant luminous atmosphere reflective of the regional character.
