Martin Koenig

Founder and Principal Landscape Architect , KLA Studio

Martin Koenig is a chartered landscape architect, urban designer and horticulturist based in London and Graz, Austria. He has worked worldwide as part of interdisciplinary teams to develop landscape projects of various scopes and scales, and throughout all work stages. Before founding KLA Studio, Martin was an Associate Director at Martha Schwartz Partners and collaborated with award-winning landscape architecture practices Gustafson Porter + Bowman and VOGT Landscape. His work at KLA Studio focuses on topics of urban greening, climate resiliency and adaptation, and explores opportunities to integrate green-blue infrastructure and climate-positive design strategies into the design of everyday urban environments. Martin aims to accomplish holistic and innovative designs, merging local and social aspects to create unique, lasting, and meaningful spaces. He believes in landscape architecture as a way to induce a positive effect on communities by providing an environment that engenders freedom of thought, creativity, and diversity. Besides practice, Martin is an elected member of the London Borough of Lambeth Design Review Panel, advising on the public realm design of new developments and regeneration projects.
