The mental health hospital in Vejle is run by the Region of Syddanmark and designed by Arkitema Architects.
The purpose of the project was to create a visionary mental health hospital with 91 beds, children’s ambulatory, psychiatric ER and ECT. The design integrates all aspects of design to create a hospital that is compassionate and therapeutic and supports healing and recovery by using conscious architectural planning principles supported by technical solutions. Thus, the new hospital supports treatment of patients with intensive and complex behavioral conditions which require hospitalization.
A primary design focus has been on a visionary healthcare design which encourages physical activity and minimalizes forceful intervention. The hospital provides a robust and effective working environment that can flex and adapt over time by embracing natural light and landscape, offering visionary planning solutions and state of the art technology.
