The WAN Waterfront 2018 Award celebrates and highlights projects that embrace and exploit the benefits of sites in proximity to water, whether working, living, or both.

Whether it be a city port, harbourfront, canal or riverside, riverfront or the water’s edge, water plays in import role in balancing urban spaces. This award will aim to bring together some of the best designs and also highlight projects that have addressed the major issue of rising sea levels.

Attracting entries from architects all over the world, this award provides a global platform to showcase inspirational ‘built’ designs from the past 5 years.

Entrants benefit from having their work judged by a panel of industry experts from leading firms. Recognition from our panel will significantly expand your practice’s global profile, which means you can reach new markets and new clients.

Judging Criteria

The judges will use their experience in the sector to assess your project on a number of factors to get to the short list including; maximising the benefit of water, originality, Innovation, Form, Function, Sustainability and Context.

The shortlisted projects will then be tested to see whether your design has:

  • Addressed any key challenges within the client brief
  • Pushed the accepted boundaries for this building type

Presentation is also of great importance, and judges will be looking for your ability to communicate the 'story' of your building, from the initial concept through to its completion.
