SPORT IN ARCHITECTURE

The WAN Sport in Architecture Award 2018 showcases architectural excellence across the spectrum of sporting and recreation facilities.

We will be looking at a variety of different building uses for this award, to name a few: stadia, sports complexes, Olympic venues, sailing pavilions, grandstands, skiing facilities, training facilities, gymnasiums, fitness clubs and indoor swimming pools.

Attracting entries from all over the world, this award will provide a global platform to showcase your designs to a panel of world-class specialists, who are passionate about and have a strong commitment to architectural design excellence within the sport industry.

Judging Criteria

The judges will use their experience in the sector to assess your project on a number of factors to get to the short list including; Originality, Innovation, Form, Function, Sustainability and Context.

The shortlisted projects will then be tested to see whether your design has:

  • Addressed any key challenges within the client brief
  • Pushed the accepted boundaries for this building type using innovation and original design features.

Presentation is also of great importance, and judges will be looking for your ability to communicate the 'story' of your building, from the initial concept through to its completion.
