The WAN Residential Award now in its 10th year, is a major international competition, showcasing  the world's most inspirational designs and projects in this important sector.

Highlighting designs that create new models for living and new ways of inhabiting space, whether an apartment block, university campus or hall of residence, we are looking for the best examples of recent multi-occupancy residential builds, from apartment blocks to University campuses.

Judging the entries will be a panel of industry leaders, who’ll be singling out the designs that rethink the way in which we inhabit spaces and live our lives. Their endorsement will give your practice unparalleled global exposure and confirm its position at the forefront of original residential design.

Judging Criteria

The judges will use their experience in the sector to assess your project on a number of factors to get to the short list including; Originality, Innovation, Form, Function, Sustainability and Context.

The shortlisted projects will then be tested to see whether your design has:

  • Addressed any key challenges within the client brief
  • Pushed the accepted boundaries for this building type

Presentation is also of great importance, and judges will be looking for your ability to communicate the 'story' of your building, from the initial concept through to its completion.

The competition is open to all projects built during the last three full calendar years, on or after 01 January 2015.
