The WAN Healthcare award, now in its 10th year, is well established as one of the most important awards for this sector. Championing human-centred designs that enhance not only the patient/visitor experience but maximise operational efficiency and help improve patient outcomes – whether a hospital, clinic, care home or surgery.

We are looking to showcase the best examples of healthcare design, offering an unparalleled opportunity to gain recognition and exposure for your work.

A panel of industry experts will be assessing how successfully your project has responded to site, context and brief. Recognition from the WAN AWARDS panel could significantly enhance the global profile of your firm and single it out as a major creative force within the field of healthcare architecture.

Judging Process

The judges will use their experience in the sector to assess your project on a number of factors to get to the short list including; Originality, Innovation, Form, Function, Sustainability and Context.

The shortlisted projects will then be tested to see whether your design has:

  • Addressed any key challenges within the client brief
  • Pushed the accepted boundaries for this building type

Presentation is also of great importance, and judges will be looking for your ability to communicate the 'story' of your building, from the initial concept through to its completion.

The competition is open to all projects including “significant” extensions to existing facilities, built during the last three full calendar years, on or after 01 January 2015.
