The WAN Future Projects Award is a celebration of excellence for ‘design only’ projects across the seven core sectors: Transport, Education, Healthcare, Civic Buildings, Urban Design, Residential and Commercial.

We will be looking to champion creations and concepts that have pushed their specific typology forward and proven a holistic and effective approach.

This is a huge new umbrella category that will generate global publicity for all entries that recognise vision and progressive thinking.

The WAN Future Project Award welcomes projects that are:

  • Concept only
  • Speculative designs
  • Unrealised competition wins
  • Projects “on hold”
  • Projects under construction

"This award provides the opportunity to get global exposure for your unrealised projects whether a fully designed building that for whatever reason never got to site or a crazy idea that is just really neat and should be out there…”Michael Hammond, Editor in Chief at WAN.

Judging Criteria

The judges will use their experience in the sector to assess your project on a number of factors to get to the short list including; Originality, Innovation, Form, Function, Sustainability and Context.

The shortlisted projects will then be tested to see whether your design has:

  • Addressed any key challenges within the client brief
  • Pushed the accepted boundaries for this building type

Presentation is also of great importance, and judges will be looking for your ability to communicate the 'story' of your building, from the initial concept through to its completion.

Projects eligible for submission must not be built on or before 01 January 2019.
