The WAN Commercial Award is a major international competition, now in its 10th year, celebrating pioneering projects that are purposed for business activities.

We are searching for designs that are advancing practice and setting new standards within commercial architecture, whether an office, industrial, restaurant, retail outlet, hotel or shopping mall.

This includes:

  • Offices
  • Factories
  • Retail outlets
  • Shopping malls
  • Leisure facilities
  • Theme parks
  • Banks
  • Cinemas
  • Cafes/restaurants
  • Hotels

Assessing the entries will be a panel of world-class specialists, handpicked for their expertise, experience and commitment to advancing excellence within commercial architecture. Award success would give your project extensive online exposure to the biggest players in the architectural community and position your firm at the forefront of original design.

Judging Criteria

The judges will use their experience in the sector to assess your project on a number of factors to get to the short list including; Originality, Innovation, Form, Function, Sustainability and Context.

The shortlisted projects will then be tested to see whether your design has:

  • Addressed any key challenges within the client brief
  • Pushed the accepted boundaries for this building type

Presentation is also of great importance, and judges will be looking for your ability to communicate the 'story' of your building, from the initial concept through to its completion.

The competition is open to all projects built during the last three full calendar years, on or after 01 January 2015.
